Laboratory Tests

Mosdorfer has many laboratories in the different plants. The following tests and laboratories are available in the Group:

• mechanical laboratory for tensile tests and inspections; cables and conductors with a length of up to 12 m can be tested at a maximum load of 1000 kN. The maximum test load of the vertical tensile test machine at Mosdorfer amounts to 1200 kN
• material studies using spectral analysis and microscopy
• Charpy Test at room temperature and at minus degrees
• heat cycle tests and electric resistance measurements
• vibration laboratory with a test span of 35 m for testing conductors and fittings
• test beds for endurance runs for type testing and quality assurance
• weathering tests in a salt spraying chamber

All the tests that cannot be made in our own laboratories will be made in cooperation with external partners and institutes. Mosdorfer maintains a good contact to many national and international laboratories and is thus capable of making a majority of the desired tests. Following, please find a short list of the possible tests in external laboratories:

• high-voltage tests (corona & RIV (Radio Influence Voltage) tests, switching impulse test, lightning impact test and test of power frequency withstand voltage)
• high-current tests
• power arc tests
• extended metallurgical studies
• mechanical tests in independent laboratories
• contacts to many university institutions
