In the field of optical fibres, Mosdorfer was one of the leading European manufacturers to identify the trend and develop overall packages, which were installed on high-voltage overhead transmission lines worldwide and have contributed to establishing a global back-bone network, in cooperation with manufacturers of wires and cables.
As for the optical ground wire (OPGW), we would particularly like to mention the 400 kV line across the Bosporus. For this crossing, an OPGW with a breaking load of more than 400 kN was used in order to meet the requirements of the span whose length amounts to almost 2 km. For this purpose, special supporting systems, which would not expose the communication medium “glass fibre” to any increased radial forces despite extreme wire descending angles, were developed.
Mosdorfer could carry out some OPPC projects in Scandinavia.
In this area, the challenge consisted in mastering the high breaking loads of the phase conductors with integrated glass fibres, which were due to the weather conditions, by using conical clamps.
Projects with ADSS cables were implemented in Austria and Scandinavia.
In cooperation with a renowned ADSS manufacturer, a project for little less than 1000 km was implemented in Asia.
